BREAKING: Joe Biden Has Won the Presidency

Updated: Nov 8, 2020

Former Vice President Joe Biden is now projected to become the 46th President of the United States of America after the Associated Press declared his campaign the winner in Pennsylvania on Saturday Morning.

Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes put Biden over the 270 threshold needed to secure him the presidency. The Associated Press also declared Biden the winner in Nevada, which widened Biden's lead to 290 electoral votes. President Donald Trump currently lags behind with 214 electoral votes and his options running out. North Carolina and Georgia have not yet been called by major networks, but neither of these states will now determine the fate of the presidency. Trump's campaign has already launched an aggressive series of lawsuits challenging the ballot counting process in several key swing states as the combative sitting president looks to keep swinging until the end. Trump, a man who famously says many, many things, took his frustrations to Twitter to lambast the rigged election and assert himself as the victor.

“THE OBSERVERS WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE COUNTING ROOMS. I WON THE ELECTION, GOT 71,000,000 LEGAL VOTES. BAD THINGS HAPPENED WHICH OUR OBSERVERS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. MILLIONS OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS WERE SENT TO PEOPLE WHO NEVER ASKED FOR THEM!”

For the first time in four years, the world ignored him.

Biden’s victory also marks the first time an incumbent president has lost an election since 1992. Vice President elect Kamala Harris will also be the first Black woman and woman of Indian descent to hold that position. The pair both addressed the nation at a victory speech marked with fireworks and a cheering crowd to cap off a day which saw millions of Americans celebrate-- peacefully, lovingly-- in every corner of the country.

"While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last, because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities," said Harris.

Biden committed to govern justly over Americans of all political stripes and reignite the stars of the soul of America.

“It is time that we lead not by the example of our power, but by the example of our power. This is the time to heal America,” said Biden.

He will serve as the next captain of the American ship so wickedly thrust into the tempestuous throes that 2020’s storm has unleashed. Pain and suffering have been the universal themes of the last few months. We are all hurting in some way, and our lives have all irrevocably changed as a result. Biden offers a beacon of light with a simple message that America is so desperate to hear: hope. History's next chapter awaits us.
